Slapshock frontman Jamir Garcia found dead at home

Vladimir “Jamir” Garcia, lead singer of Pinoy heavy metal rock band Slapshock, has passed away. He was 42 years old.

According to a Quezon City police report, Jamir was found lifeless by his aunt at his home in Barangay Sangandaan Thursday (November 26) morning.

Jamir was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Police authorities were dispatched to the scene and investigation is currently underway.

Sonboy Garcia, in a Facebook post, mourned the death of his brother and asked netizens to stop sharing photos of his brother’s remains on social media.

Jamir became Slapshock’s frontman shortly after the band was formed in 1997 until its reported breakup this year.

A Philstar.com report last October said that the group disbanded after 23 years due to reported issues among group members.

In one of his last Instagram posts, Jamir shared a throwback photo from one their jam-packed live shows with an encouraging message to fans as caption.

“Kapit lang maayos din ang lahat. 🙏🏻 #pandemic2020,” he wrote.

Just recently, Jamir and his team went out of their way to distribute relief goods and donations to the victims of Typhoon Ulysses in Rizal.

This morning, our team head up early to Rizal to distribute the donations. We were able to purchased essential food (biscuits, canned goods, water) and some used clothing for the victims of the typhoon. We went to the farthest area of Wawa Rizal, which was one of the hard-hit baranggays. It was really hard to get there. Some of our friends’ cars almost broke down. It was muddy, but we made it there. And everyone was waiting on relief goods.Sadly because there was a lack in coordination and it was too crowded, we prioritized keeping safe through social distancing. So we then decided to head to this baranggay where people rarely get donations. It’s refreshing to see how happy they were in receiving what we brought. It was a great team effort! We all went home happy that we’ve helped in our own little way. Part of our gathered donations are from the initiative of Jamir Garcia Lean L Ansing Richard Evora and their families and friends, and portion of #knottyjaya sale which you all supported, so thank you so much! Helping out became possible through all your help! No amount is too small. When we are united, the results are amazing. We get to help others in the most powerful way possible! Thank you all for helping us. Help others. May God bless us all.. 💗
