Pet dog goes viral for guiding tricycle driver owner on the road

This dog kept following his fur dad as he passed through España Boulevard in Sampaloc, Manila last Dec.11, 2021.

Passenger Dana Paggao, a medical student, said that she was on her way to the University of Santo Tomas when she first noticed the dog.

“Sobrang touched ko nun. ‘Yung feeling talaga na ‘we don’t deserve dogs.’ Nakita ko how the dog would, in his own way, try to protect tatay by making sure no one gets in his way and he’s safe,” she said.

“Actually hindi ko nakausap si tatay tungkol dun kasi twice pa lang ako nakasakay sa tricycle ni tatay and nahihiya ako makipagusap. Medyo nag focus din ako sa pag video and medyo in a rush ako nun kasi everytime na sasakay ako eh nagmamadali ako papasok sa school,” Paggao recalled.

Paggao then shared the first time she witnessed the dog’s loyalty to the driver.

“Nung first time ko sumakay sa tricycle ni tatay akala ko random stray dog lang. Tapos nung papunta na kami sa school, sumusunod ‘yung aso. Tapos he’d bark sa lahat ng mga tao na nakikita niya sa harap namin whether tricycle, naglalakad, nakamotor. Natakot pa ako nung una kasi lumalapit siya sa tricycle and baka kagatin niya ako. Pero he never did. Sinusundan niya kami from España to Loyola hanggang Lacson pa. I didn’t think much of it,” Paggao said.

She also confirmed that the dog guides the driver whenever he drives around the area.

“Nung 2nd time ako nakasakay kay tatay, inobserbahan ko talaga ‘yung aso and same thing happened again. Plus nung nasa stoplight kami sa Lacson Avenue, he’d be there looking at tatay bago siya umihi. Dun ko naconfirm talaga na they’re together,”

Netizens were amazed at the dog’s way of showing love and care to his owner. While others expressed worry about the safety of the dog.

 “Ingat po kay manong and kay dog!” another netizen commented.

Paggao said that individuals in the comments section also confirmed that they also spotted the dog and the tricycle driver together.

As of this writing, the uploaded video has more than 300,000 views on social media.
