Pinoy gamer proposes to girlfriend in ‘Genshin Impact’

A gamer from La Union proposed to his girlfriend in the popular open-world online game, Genshin Impact.

Described as an “extreme introvert,” Ronica Pilar Mejica Cabansag shared that she did not expect that her boyfriend, Jerome Javillonar, would even go out of his way to plan a unique marriage proposal because he’s not really into surprises.

“I have the intuition something will happen but my mind won’t accept it because he is not into some romantic stuff I know. So I’m actually quite excited how an introvert will do a surprise. So nung pagkarating ko sa house nila with my mom I don’t see anything flashy or what and even his mom it looks like na wala naman idea sa surprise,” she shared on Facebook.

“Pagka-open ko ng kwarto niya may sumilip na lights and balloons. I got mixed emotions. Umiiyak and tumatawa at the same time and takot ituloy buksan ’yung pinto,” she added.

When she entered the room, Jerome asked her to play their favorite game, Genshin Impact.

“He created some obstacles and maze sa game then doon niya sinulat ’yung gusto niyang sabihin. Ang creative kasi I know ang hirap gawin non. And he even said it took him more than 1 month kasi he needed to buy the things or supplies in the shop ng game,” she shared.

“Mahilig po kami [mag laro ng game]. Nagstart po kami nung nag launch ‘yung game. Currently Ar58(world level) na po kami,” she added.

At the end of the maze, Jerome popped the question: “Will you be my waifu?” (Will you be my wife?). And he got a solid yes from Ronica.

“Hindi po niya nasabi kung bakit doon siya nag-propose. Inassume ko na lang kasi favorite online game namin ’yung Genshin Impact at mahilig po kami maglaro at manood ng anime,” soon-to-be bride Ronica told The Philippine STAR.

Ronica shared how her “extreme introvert” partner proposed to her.

“Not flashy. Not crowded. Hindi nakakapressure. Nag plan ng solo. Nagexecute ng solo. All by himself,” she said.

She, however, showed her appreciation to her soon-to-be husband for exerting effort and for doing the extra mile to make their engagement memorable.

“So kahit introvert pa ‘yan if he loves you quiet lang sila but nakikinig he’ll do anything that can make you happy if they can. I guarantee you,” she said.

Ronica and her boyfriend Jerome have been together for almost three years. They are planning to tie the knot this year.
