US hardcore punk band Converge mistaken as PHL internet provider

American rock band Converge was forced to address Filipinos on their Facebook page after being mistaken for the Philippine internet service provider with the same name.

It appeared that the pioneering metalcore band has been on the receiving end of internet service concerns and complaints. Nevertheless, they made light of the confusion in a post on Saturday.

“Hey everyone… still just a hardcore band over here. Covid has not forced us to become an internet provider in the Philippines yet, but we hope everyone over there gets their internet access back. While you’re here though click the link to our webstore and grab yourself a cool T-shirt or something. ðŸ˜‚😂😂😂,” said Converge the band.

The Facebook post came with a screenshot of comments made by Filipino netizens who wrongly assumed they were the Philippine telecommunication service provider Converge ICT Solutions.

The post has since gone viral with over 11K reactions and 4K shares.

A netizen apologized to the band in the comments section, saying: “Sorry Converge, our internet speed moves at a glacial pace,” in reference to the group’s song Glacial Pace.

Converge the band reacted: “This might be the best comment.”

Another Filipino netizen, who happens to be a fan of the band, shared a photo of his Converge albums and wrote: “If the pandemic is over, you guys should come to the Philippines and these people will buy your album.”

“Converge, the only solution now is to tour the Philippines. We will apologize in person while thrashing in the pit at the same time,” another fan said.

The band — considered a “titan” in the metalcore scene — took things in stride, saying they would love to play in the country someday.
